Just Cause 2: Multiplayer Mod available Dec 16th
by Gaveroid on Dec.15, 2013, under Games, General, PC
JC2-MP is a project to bring multiplayer to Just Cause 2 in all of its magnificent glory. Imagine the chaos of normal Just Cause 2, then extending it out to dozens, hundreds, and even thousands of players. You can grapple your way from skyscraper to skyscraper in Panau City, or jump off of the tallest mountain and parachute down to the ground, with your friends. You can experience intense helicopter battles in the sky. You can race the fastest cars and win money for securing a podium ranking, which you can use to buy weapons and vehicles to cause more chaos upon the province of Panau. This can all be achieved with the Just Cause 2 Multiplayer mod.
The mod’s experience highly relies on client-side and server-side Lua scripting. The Boost feature, the nametags, the buy menu, etc., are all the result of Lua scripting. The possibilities are endless!
The mod runs on the RakNet multiplayer game network engine, which is the same technology used to create the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas multiplayer mod. The mod is almost finished, after being in development for the majority of this year. The final beta test is currently going on, and it will continue until the mod’s release tomorrow.
If you are interested in playing, go pick up a Steam key at the mod’s official website. Allow me to note that the mod is only for the PC version of Just Cause 2. It must be an official version from Steam. Join the official Gaveroid group on Steam if you’d like to play with us! You can also stay up-to-date on when we are looking to play other games.
We’ll see you on the streets of Panau!
Infestation: Survivor Stories Guide.
by Darwood37 on Jul.21, 2013, under Games, General, PC
After moaning about this game if have strangely enough become addicted. I was able to kill my first Zombie while being munched on and killed about 30 seconds afterwards. My second attempt by stabbing one of these with a pitch fork which i found was so much easier than using the flashlight, this was put to an abrupt halt because I was surrounded by around 5 Zombies that killed me in 2 seconds.
I decided to search for some tips and hints to playing this game and surprisingly enough people have taken the time to put together some very useful information found in the Infestation Wiki.
May i suggest reading the Beginners Guide first this will help you understand the game greatly.
The first useful piece of information i found was the map of the Boulder City area of Colorado where it all takes place. It will show you safe settlements, places where players can exchange items and more. There is also an interactive map which is a lot easier to use.
After reading through the Wiki i found Infestation: Survivor Stories a lot easier and I was able to move around better without being noticed.
Hopefully I will have some more free time this week so i can put all this useful information in to play again and just see what i can accomplish.
Fraps: Real-time video capture and benchmarking software
by Darwood37 on Jul.20, 2013, under Games, General, Movies, PC
Fraps is a Windows application that can be used with games, but not limited to, using DirectX or OpenGL graphic technology. To capture real-time gameplay, screenshots and also provide some benchmarking.
I recently downloaded Fraps and while i have not used the screen capture or benchmarking options I have made very good use of the real-time video capture. All movies are recorded in outstanding quality and are saved slightly compressed in the AVI format. Fraps can capture audio and video up to 7680×4800 with custom frame rates from 1 to 120 frames per second.
Fraps in not just limited to game capture. You can also capture your desktop, this opens up a whole world of possibilities, just use your imagination.
If you want to edit your movies with Vegas Pro, Windows Movie Maker or one of the many other video editing software titles available i recommend running the original AVI through a converter and saving it as a WMV. Remember if you want to share the video with anyone in the original AVI format they will have to have Fraps loaded on their computer because it uses a custom codec.
I highly recommend this software, you can download the free version at www.fraps.com wich only records 30 seconds of video or pay $37 for a single user license, well worth every penny.
